About
- MAKE is a quarterly publication from O'Reilly for those who just can't stop tinkering, disassembling, re-creating, and inventing cool new uses for the technology in our lives. It's the first do-it-yourself magazine dedicated to the incorrigible and chronically incurable technology enthusiast in all of us. MAKE celebrates your right to tweak, hack, and bend technology any way you want.

Solar-powered camels
Okay, the camels aren't solar-powered, but the refrigerators on their backs are. The panels/fridges are used to cool vaccines delivered to nomadic communities in Africa. In transit, the lightweight, foldable solar panel powers the camel-pack refrigeration system. Once the camel convoy arrives at the remote health clinic site, the panel can be used in combination with larger solar panels to provide power for the health clinic. Bitlash - Arduino command line shell
Learning to code an Arduino can be pretty confusing as most calculations will occur 'behind the scenes' of a sketch. It is intended for those occasions when you need to bang some bits but writing a full Arduino sketch is overkill. […] Bitlash interprets a tiny language that lets you call the familiar Arduino C […] read

When hooked up to a camera, they can be used to take time lapse images, bracket exposure lengths and precisely time long exposure images (over 30 seconds) that the built-in timer on the camera cannot normally generate. When hooked up to a flash, they […] read

Knitting with dog hair
Here's an fascinating gallery of people who made clothing from their dog's hair (dogs also pictured)... There seems to be enough interest in this that there's a book on it too "Knitting with dog hair" via CRAFT. I'm impressed, a great use of dog hair that would normally just get brushed away... I'm going to ask Tina if we can get some of these folks for the next cover of CRAFT... Read more | Permalink | Comments | Read more articles in Crafts | Digg this! read
