Nokia "Wahoo" 3G half-QWERTY flip swings into view
[…] quad-band clamshell features an interesting half-QWERTY keypad, an internal 2.2-inch QVGA display and a 1.36-inch external unit, push-to-talk, microSD expansion, and A2DP support -- which you'll need because Nokia seems to think a 2.5mm headphone jack is still somehow acceptable. No word on a release date, but if you're waiting on pins and needles for a phone with a display that small we really can't help you anyway.Nokia "Wahoo" 3G half-QWERTY flip swings into view originally appeared on […] read

Verizon Unveils Blackberry Storm - Dropping sometime this fall....
[…] Storm, which will obviously ride on Verizon's EVDO wireless broadband network here in the States. The phone also plays well with quad-band GSM and Europe-friendly HSPA, and features GPS and Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP -- but no Wi-Fi. Gadget blogs like Engadget have hands on impressions of the touch (and click) screen device. Obviously Verizon has been taking a bit of a hit from the iPhone, and hopes the new Storm (which drops this fall) can retain a few would-be defectors.read comment(s) read

BlackBerry Storm 9500 hands-on
[…] the phone is easily the prettiest by RIM to date. There's a brushed metal back, a beautiful new OS interface, and enough radios to give your grandkids cancer (EV-DO Rev. A, quad-band GSM, Europe-friendly HSPA, GPS, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, though sadly no WiFi). But the real test of a phone is usability, not flash. Check out our impressions after the break.Gallery: BlackBerry Storm hands-onContinue reading BlackBerry Storm 9500 hands-onPermalink | Email this | Comments read

Debunk: the iPod touch Bluetooth chip is really the Nike+ receiver
[…] low-power 2.4GHz communications protocol called ANT -- not quite the standard Bluetooth frequency, but awful close. Yep, sorry, it's for technojogging, not secret A2DP -- although we'd welcome actual Bluetooth support in the touch with open arms. Hit the read link for the complete breakdown.Update: Just to be totally accurate, the BCM4325 also does WiFi -- and Nike+iPod has been called a "proprietary 802.11 protocol" in the past, so it's even less likely that it's there for actual Bluetooth […] read

Nokia N96 gets put through its paces
[…] even outdoors, and the overall build quality is described as "good," if a bit "plasticky." He also found the music quality to be especially good over Bluetooth/A2DP, and from the built-in speakers as well, which are apparently "very loud." On the downside, the camera shutter key proved to be a bit stiff, and some of the third-party applications like ProfiMail were to be a bit buggy, as was Nokia's Switch app when attempting to transfer data from an E90 to the N96. Elac MicroSub, Rubik's Cubes Pump Out the Jams [Subwoofers]
[…] of generic, monolithic designs. So it's straight out rude of the Elac Microsub to subvert such heritage with its Rubik's Cube styling. Low on vibration and Bluetooth equipped for wireless connection to your favorite A2DP streaming device, the Elac MicroSub is the best that dual music and puzzle cube fans will do without building a subwoofer themselves. Oh, and it's also available in black and white, you know, as a hat tip to soul-less audio equipment everywhere. [Elac via ShinyShiny] read

The T-Mobile Sidekick -- yep, just Sidekick
[…] cry from your daddy's Hiptop launched way back in 2002, thanks to a 400 x 240 WQVGA display, 2 megapixel camera with video recording capability, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, and a microSD slot. Though it's being billed as the iD's spiritual successor, the Sidekick comes dangerously close to LX territory, so it should see some solid movement at the $149.99 asking price on a two-year contract. What's more, the Sidekick becomes Danger's first device with user-customizable shells, available directly […] read
