SGN Game Turns iPhones Into Wii Controllers
You had to figure that widgetmakers struggling to make money on Facebook's platform would eventually turn to Apple's iPhone App Store, where some developers are making money. SGN has, in a new suite of apps called "iFun," which turn players' iPhones into motion-sensing controllers similar to those used to play Nintendo's Wii. Have you used Slydial for an awkward call, "sick" day, or other purposes, nice or nefarious? Tell us (what you can) in the comments. [via] read

Google’s Voice Search Finally Hits The iPhone
[…] led to criticism of Apple's App Store approval process, which apparently leaves all developers in the dark - even Google. The app allows users to speak into their iPhones to submit queries to Google's search engine, which can serve up both standard search results as well as movie showtimes, addresses, and other handy information. Voice detection seems to work pretty well, though it sometimes takes a few tries with long phrases and names (I was able to correctly search for the "answer to […] read

Dogpile on Apple: New Lawsuit Adds Hairline Cracks to List of iPhone 3G Problems [Legal Warfare]
[…] reported on it before, but this is the first time it's showing up in a suit. Koschitzki alleges that many of the hairline cracks are visible on unopened, unused iPhones, and that Apple willingly and knowingly sold iPhones with the unsightly lines. I'd think cosmetic damage before use would be grounds for a return, and I can't say I approve of the proliferation of this kind of lawsuit, but if Apple is sending out cracked iPhones, they've gotta step up and be more careful. Are cell phones over?
[…] fall. We may not be alone.Nokia today forecast global industry mobile phone sales to be 1.5% less than previously expected. Apple may be reducing its production of iPhones. You have to wonder, in an economy in which free and easy credit is fast disappearing (and, along with it, free and easy disposable "income" to spend on toys) -- and one in which, shortly, consumers may start paying closer attention to monthly bills before they enter blindly into two-year contracts worth thousands for a […] read

Where's Apple's Online Mac Software Store? (MSFT, AAPL)
[…] Mac software store? The sexy MacBook Air doesn't ship with a built-in DVD drive and would be a perfect candidate for over-their-air software downloads. Apple has obviously figured out Internet software delivery for its iPhones and iPods. Yet Apple only sells its Mac software -- Final Cut, Garage Band jam packs, iWork, Aperture, OS X, etc. -- on discs. Report: Apple struggling with iPhone in India
[…] of a long story published by LiveMint.com analyzing the first few months of Apple's foray into India with the iPhone 3G. Analysts estimate that just 11,000 iPhones have been sold in India since Apple launched in that country in September, which is probably equivalent to a week's worth of sales at the downtown San Francisco Apple store. It doesn't seem that Apple ever thought it would make a huge splash in India, allocating just 50,000 iPhones to that market, according to the […] read
