U.S. Version Of Club Nintendo To Hand Out Physical Goodies [Nintendo]
Nintendo of America announced that it was bringing the Club Nintendo customer reward programing stateside in October, just prior to Tokyo Game Show. Details were scant, only revealing that Nintendo fans could accrue points through filling out surveys and, of course, buying armfuls of Nintendo stuff, then registering that stuff. But what kind of stuff will we, the […] read

[…] products and services in tune with customer tastes.&„; Wada had previously voiced his concerns over the growth of the Western games industry, most recently at the Tokyo Game Show, where he proposed an alliance of Japanese devs and publishers. Well That Was Fun [Culture]
Relaxing too. After spending a blistering week covering the Tokyo Game Show with Ashcraft, McWhertor and Luke, I snuck off for two weeks to the southwestern tip of Japan for a bit of R&R. My brother-in-law and his family took Trish, Tristan and I in to their home, a former tiny hotel near Ibusuki, for the duration of our vacation. The two floor house has six numbered rooms, plenty of creepy, long Shining-esque hallways and only one […] read

What Are You Playing This Weekend? [Lazy Sundays]
With Tokyo Game Show behind us, it's time to move on to the flood of Q4 releases. That would explain Banjo Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts and Fable II being unceremoniously plopped on the stoop of Kotaku Towers West. Both will get a good gameplay session thrashing this weekend from yours truly and then ultimately reviewed — as will as the recently acquired Portal: Still Alive — but there are some non-obligation games here too. Finally picked up Call of Duty 4 (I know, I know), The […] read

Alan Wake Returns In Brand New Cinematic Trailer [Trailer]
Remedy Entertainment's "psychological action thriller" Alan Wake may continue to be a no-show at massive gaming events like E3 and Tokyo Game Show, but the new cinematic trailer released today proves that the Xbox 360 and Windows Vista (grrr...) only title is still in the works. Sure, the knees may be sharp, the valleys may be uncanny and the development may be […] read

Rumor: E3 2009 To Bring Back The Crowds, Maybe The Spectacle [E3]
[…] the previous two iterations. It would not only give publishers more time to spread out announcements between the show and, later in the year, Games Convention and Tokyo Game Show, it would give developers time to ready more polished demos without cutting into the critical development time of the approaching holidays. The show is hoping to attract a crowd much bigger than the stripped down, dead in the water version seen this summer. Much bigger. Sources tell us that while the crowd probably […] read

Filed under: Culture, Fighting Based off of the single frame of Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li that we saw at this year's Tokyo Game Show, we feel confident in issuing this ringing endorsement for the film -- it could end up being the second-best live action Street Fighter film to date. Let's Tap? Let's Screen Shots! [Wii]
[…] at new dev house Prope has been dated for a Japanese release, a milestone we're celebrating with new screen shots. Let's Tap, which we played and kind of enjoyed at Tokyo Game Show last week, will hit Japan on December 18, the same week that Prope's other game, Let's Catch, hits the WiiWare service. There are far too many throwaway "visualizers" in Let's Tap, but I happen to like the concept, despite how impractical it seems. No word from Sega yet when we can expect a North American release, […] read
